Organisations in both Australia and the Philippines are facing new mandatory climate disclosure requirements that make robust carbon measurement and management tools essential:
Australia:
Australia has enacted a mandatory climate-related financial disclosure regime requiring large entities to prepare sustainability reports aligned with the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (including AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures) as part of annual reporting obligations, beginning with financial years starting on or after 1 January 2025. These standards embed rigorous climate-related disclosures on governance, strategy, risk management, metrics and targets, and will be phased in across entities by size and reporting profile. Assurance requirements are also being phased in, with full audit obligations targeted for later years.
Philippines:
The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission has adopted Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) on Sustainability Disclosures, based on global ISSB S1 and S2 standards, marking a national pivot toward mandatory climate and sustainability reporting. Tiered implementation requires larger listed companies to adopt these disclosures beginning with fiscal years from 1 January 2026, expanding to other corporations through 2028 and beyond, with external assurance requirements on Scope 1 and 2 emissions following thereafter.
These regulatory developments reflect a global shift toward standardised, high-quality climate reporting, reinforcing the need for end-to-end solutions that can support data integrity, transparency, and strategic decision-making.
